Privacy Policy

SkiedMood has no accounts and no servers of our own, and your journal never leaves your iPhone. The app does show ads, and the advertising SDKs inside it do collect information about your device. Everything they collect is listed below.

This policy covers the SkiedMood iOS app (bundle identifier com.SkiedMood.www) published on the App Store. SkiedMood is a lifestyle journal that pairs a mood with the day's weather atmosphere. It is not a medical, diagnostic, or health-monitoring product, and it does not give health advice.

What we collect directly

Nothing. We do not run a server, an account system, or a journal cloud. We never receive your diary text, your moods, your photos, or your tags — those stay in the app's own storage on your device, and we have no way to read them.

What follows is about the third-party software inside the app, which is a different thing and is where data does leave the device.

Advertising

SkiedMood is free and is funded by full-screen interstitial ads. Ads are mediated by TopOn, which decides which ad network fills each slot. Those networks are separate companies, and to select and measure an ad they may receive information about your device: an advertising identifier, IP address, coarse location derived from that IP address, device model and OS version, and interaction data such as whether an ad was shown, viewed or tapped.

We do not choose or review the ads themselves. Tapping one takes you out of SkiedMood and into whatever the advertiser links to, where that company's own privacy policy applies.

Tracking and the IDFA

On first launch iOS asks whether you allow SkiedMood to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. This is Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.

• If you decline, the advertising identifier (IDFA) is not made available to the ad SDKs, and you get non-personalised ads instead. The app works exactly the same either way — nothing is locked, hidden, or degraded.
• If you allow, the IDFA is shared with the ad networks listed below so they can personalise and measure ads.

You can change your mind at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, either for SkiedMood alone or for every app at once.

Third-party services in the app

These are every third party bundled with SkiedMood. Each has its own privacy policy, and each is responsible for what it collects.

SkiedMood also bundles SnapKit, SDWebImage, ObjectMapper and PromiseKit. These are open-source utility libraries with no network or analytics behaviour of their own; they are listed here only for completeness.

What the app stores on your device

This is storage, not collection — none of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else.

In the app's local database (SwiftData, inside the app sandbox):

• Journal text, the mood and its intensity, and up to two secondary moods
• The weather kind and temperature shown on the page, plus the time-of-day slot
• Optional people, place and activity tags
• Whether a page is a favourite, and whether it is one of the built-in sample pages
• The paper style and typeface chosen for that page
• A photo you attach as a page cover, compressed on device, and the particle effect chosen for it

In app preferences (NSUserDefaults):

• Appearance (system, light, dark) and whether onboarding has been completed
• Calendar options: week start day, lunar dates, month or timeline layout, mood colour dots
• Whether the notebook header art is shown
• Custom moods you create, and custom people / place / activity tags you add
• Which daily line was picked for today, and whether the sample pages have been seeded
• Whether the morning and evening writing reminders are on
• Ad SDK bookkeeping: the TopOn app key and placement identifiers, and counters used to decide when an interstitial may appear

Deleting your data

• One page: swipe a row in Journal and tap Delete, or use the ⋯ menu while reading a page.
• The sample pages: Me → Remove sample entries.
• Everything: delete the app. Per normal iOS behaviour this removes the app's local data on that device, and any pending reminder notifications are cancelled.
• The advertising identifier: turn tracking off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or reset the identifier there.

Since we hold no copy of your journal, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. To ask an ad network to delete what it holds, contact that company using its privacy policy above.

Permissions

Every permission below is optional, is asked for only at the moment you use the feature that needs it, and can be declined without losing access to the app.

• Tracking (ATT) — see “Tracking and the IDFA” above.
• Microphone and Speech Recognition — requested only when you tap Dictation, to turn what you say into text on the current page. Where on-device recognition is available, SkiedMood requests it so the audio stays on your iPhone. Dictation is a writing convenience, not health monitoring.
• Photo Library — requested only when you choose a photo as a page cover. The photo is compressed and stored with that entry on your device. It is never uploaded, and it is never shared with an ad network.
• Notifications — requested only after you switch on the morning or evening writing reminder in Me. The reminder text is a gentle nudge to write; it is not health advice. Turning the reminders off cancels them.

Separately from those prompts, Apple requires apps to declare certain APIs that show no permission dialog. SkiedMood declares three, all for ordinary app functionality: reading and writing its own user defaults, file timestamps, and available disk space. SkiedMood does not use CoreLocation and never requests your device location; any coarse location an ad network infers comes from your IP address, not from iOS location services.

Sharing and export

SkiedMood can export a page — or your whole journal — as Markdown, and can render a page as a weather card image. In both cases the file is produced on your device and handed to the standard iOS share sheet, where you choose the destination. SkiedMood never sends an export anywhere on its own, and exported content is never given to an ad network.

Children

SkiedMood is a general lifestyle app and is not directed at children. It is not suitable for children under 13, because it displays third-party advertising. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — we operate no servers that could receive it. Please do not use the app to gather personal information from children in a way that would violate applicable law, including COPPA where it applies.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights over personal data held about you.

From us: we hold no copy of your journal, no profile of you, and no identifier for your device, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct, or erase. Your entries live on your iPhone and the deletion steps above remove them.

From the ad networks: exercise your rights with each company directly, using the privacy policies linked above. The most effective single step you can take is to decline tracking in iOS, which withholds the advertising identifier from all of them at once.

We do not sell or share personal information for money, because we never receive any.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of SkiedMood changes the picture above — a different set of ad networks, cloud sync, or anything else that moves data off the device — this page will be updated before that version ships, and the “Last updated” date at the top will change.
